Kenny Chesney Biography

Kenny Chesney (born Kenneth Arnold Chesney, March 26, 1968 in Knoxville, Tennessee) is an American country music singer-songwriter. Chesney's debut came in 1993 on Capricorn Records. Kenny has recorded thirteen albums to date, eleven certified as gold or higher.

To date, Kenny has produced more than thirty Top Ten singles on the U.S. Billboard Hot Country Songs charts, thirteen of those reaching the coveted Number One status. If that weren't enough, Kenny also received six ACM and three CMA awards. Chesney puts on one of the most consistently popular tours in country music, regularly selling out venues. The 2007 Flip-Flop Summer Tour was the highest-grossing country road trip of 2007.

Kenny doesn't let the fame go to his head. He comments that 'Where I'm from, no matter what you listen to, you talk country, you think country, you are country. Your family's country. The food on your table's country. The church you go to on Sunday morning's country... And that's a good thing. It means something. It stands for something. And, truly, when you scrape it all away, that is who I am. So that'll always be the place I come back to.' That about sums Mr. Chesney up.

The folks Kenny grew up with help form the backbone of his success. His three closest friends from childhood work within the top levels of his tour, while the production crew is anchored by people there at the start. Chesney keeps these people close by, and part of his family. While many country singers wax poetic about the importance of family and country, Chesney puts a face and name to it.
